How to: Creating the perfect profile of a Traveler on Pinterest

I can’t say much about the users who have different interests, but i can speak whole day about us, travelers and photographers.
Pinterest is fighting an everlasting war with the spammers, blocking them, suspending them, but spammers are working their buts off to look more real, so Pinterest is having difficulties finding them, and we are the collateral damage because of all this.

By some mistake someone will report your pin because it looks spammy, or you have just re-pined it from some spammer and you’ll get suspended for no reason, than you’ll have to contact pinterest by e-mail and wait for days for the response and so on and on and on.
Pinterest is also blocking accounts if their profile looks spammy.
What does that mean?
Fake profile photo, stupid description, no twitter or Facebook link, oh boy, you are screwed!
Everything matters to Pinterest! In your description you say that you are a traveler but you only pin food recipes, you have a photo of a bald, fat guy in a suit … not so much of a travel type.
Here are my tips for creating the best profile of a traveler so you don’t get sacked from the network.
1. Profile photo
You are a traveler, adventurer, explorer, so put some photo of you where people can see your adventurous life. Make sure that your face can be seen on the photo, so when people wanna check you out on twitter or facebook they can recognize you. Make sure that your profile pics on the other social networks are different, but the face can clearly be seen on every one of them.
  • So okay, photo of a John Doe at the pyramids on Pinterest, yup on twitter is the same guy but in NYC, and yes, here is John on Facebook, with a selfie from the colosseum in Rome. Yup, this is a real person (or a crazy sick spammer)
2. Description
Most of the spammers use some famous quotes, something like … “what doesn’t kills me, makes me stronger” or something like that.
Well you are a traveler and we all know that travelers are crazy about quotes and saying related to the word “wanderlust”, and yes, it’s okay to add something like that, but skip the one from J. R. R. Tolkien, “not all who wander are lost”, find something else.
Almost every traveler has a blog and wants to present himself in the best possible way so that more followers can be attracted to him. Describe yourself and your interests, write down your own sayings, promote your blogs or photo galleries, people love to read something creative from people they don’t know.
3. Verified blog
Make sure that your blog is verified by pinterest and you have that mark, than people can see that you are really some crazy nomad that likes to share photos and write about his adventurous life and instead of being reported, you’ll end up with a new follower.
4. Facebook & Twitter is a must
This two social networks will make your profile more legit and will decrease the chance of suspension for being fake on Pinterest.
Hope you find this stuff useful!
